Noida News: Authority has initiated plans to enhance the power infrastructure in five sectors adjacent to the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The authority has issued tenders for constructing power sub-stations in Sectors 155, 156, and 164. This comes after the partial completion of the tender process for sub-stations in Sectors 151 and 162, with work expected to commence within three months.
Sub-Station Details and Capacity
All five power sub-stations will have a capacity of 33-11 kV. According to Noida Authority officials, new sectors are being developed along the expressway, and additional industrial sectors are also being planned. The industrial sectors will require substantial power, prompting the need for enhanced infrastructure. Currently, one power station covers two to three sectors or villages. The new sub-stations will reduce the load on existing ones, improving power supply in older sectors and villages and significantly reducing power cuts. The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) had also indicated the necessity for these new sub-stations to the Noida Authority.
Phased Development and Cost
In the first phase, sub-stations will be built in Sectors 151, 155, 156, 162, and 164. Tenders for Sectors 151 and 162 have already been issued, with the technical bids opened and the price bids yet to be revealed. Following this, the next steps of the process will be undertaken.
Estimated Expenditure
The Noida Authority officials estimate that the construction of these sub-stations will cost approximately Rs 51 crore. Once construction begins, the sub-stations are expected to be operational within a year and a half. This development comes amid ongoing power issues, with frequent and prolonged outages currently affecting the region.
The improved infrastructure is anticipated to provide a more reliable power supply to both residential and industrial sectors, supporting the area’s continued growth and development.
