Passport Scam: According to sources quoted by news agency PTI, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested 24 people, including both public and private sector employees, for allegedly using fake paperwork to grant passports to those who weren’t qualified, including non-residents.
CBI’s Extensive Searches
Searches are being conducted by the CBI in 50 places throughout West Bengal and Gangtok. They said that the CBI had detained a middleman and a representative from Gangtok.
Passport Scandal Unveiled
They claimed that 24 people, including 16 officials, are named in the FIR as allegedly providing passports to ineligible people using fake documents in exchange for bribery. They said that searches were being conducted in Gangtok, Siliguri, and other locations.
