PUC certificate: A stern decision was made on Monday by Transport Minister Antony Raju, stating that vehicles in Kerala will not be granted Pollution Under Control (PUC) certifications after December 1, 2023, if the owner has not paid any outstanding challans. Five months after the AI camera was installed, the number of fatal traffic incidents had decreased. The state’s cameras recorded 7,432,371 traffic offences between June and October. Of these, inspectors examined 5,829,926 cases; 2,306,023 of these were uploaded to the Integrated Transport Monitoring System, and 2,103,801 infractions resulted in fines.

The state recorded decreased road accidents
The government has collected fines totaling almost Rs 21.5 crore thus far. With 21,865 observations, riding a two-wheeler without a helmet was the most common infraction in October. It’s important to remember that the death rate could alter given the continued care for a number of patients at the hospital who are in critical condition. The cameras also recorded 16,581 incidents of motorcycle pillion riders failing to wear helmets, 23,296 incidents of front-seat passengers not wearing seat belts, 25,633 incidents of automobile drivers not wearing seat belts and 662 mobile phone use infractions.
