Punjab News: Ludhiana Set to Welcome 100 Electric Buses, Completes Preparations for Bus Depots and Electrical Infrastructure

Officials have submitted the report to the Government of India (GOI) and now await the allocation of the buses under the PM E Bus Sewa Yojna.

Punjab News: The Municipal Corporation Ludhiana (MCL) has taken a significant step towards the arrival of 100 electric buses, as it has completed estimates for necessary civil structures, electrical connections, and coordination with the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL). Officials have submitted the report to the Government of India (GOI) and now await the allocation of the buses under the PM E Bus Sewa Yojna.

Municipal Corporation Ludhiana Becomes First Among Selected Cities to Finalize Formalities Under PM E Bus Sewa Yojna

Ludhiana was selected for this initiative in 2023, and since then, the civic body has been making preparations. Two sites, Ghora Road and Hambran Road, were chosen for bus depots.

Cost and Infrastructure Details

The cost of civil work will be shared equally between the GOI and the Municipal Corporation. With the necessary groundwork completed, Ludhiana’s civic body is well-prepared to support the fleet of e-buses, awaiting GOI’s signal to deploy them in the city.
