Punjab News– As Haryana gears up for its Assembly elections on October 5, the state has declared a public holiday on the election day. Schools, colleges, banks, and offices will remain closed across Haryana to facilitate the voting process. Neighboring Punjab’s Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, has also taken a notable step by announcing a special holiday for Punjab government employees who are registered voters in Haryana.
This special leave will not be deducted from the employee’s annual leave balance, allowing those registered to vote in Haryana to exercise their democratic right without any penalty. Employees working in government offices, educational institutions, boards, and corporations under the Punjab government are eligible to avail this leave by presenting their voter ID card as proof.
Voting on October 5, Results on October 8
Voting for Haryana’s 90 Assembly seats will take place on October 5, with vote counting scheduled for October 8. The decision to grant leave ensures that employees from Punjab, who are voters in Haryana, can travel to their respective polling stations and participate in the elections.
Two Consecutive Holidays for Haryana Voters
In addition to the public holiday on October 5 for the elections, October 6 will also be a day off in Haryana, as it falls on a Sunday. This means voters will benefit from two consecutive days of leave, providing them ample time to participate in the election and fulfill their civic duty.
This move is part of efforts to encourage voter turnout and support the democratic process during this important political event.
