Punjab News : In a significant relief to residents of Punjab, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has given his consent to the Punjab Apartment and Property Regulation (Amendment) Act, 2024. The amendment removes the need for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) when registering land deeds, simplifying the process for those owning properties in unauthorized colonies across the state.
Punjab Governor Approves Amendment to Waive NOC Requirement for Land Deeds
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann hailed the amendment as a “Diwali Bonanza” for the people. The Punjab Assembly had passed the bill on September 3, bringing relief to owners of plots up to 500 square yards, particularly in around 14,000 unauthorized colonies where NOC requirements previously complicated property registrations. This applies specifically to properties purchased before July 31, 2024.

The governor’s office issued a formal communication to the Chief Minister’s office, confirming Kataria’s approval. Chief Minister Mann expressed gratitude to the governor, noting that the amendment aims to enforce stricter controls over illegal colonies and to ease bureaucratic hurdles for property owners. This change is expected to streamline property transactions and provide clarity on property ownership in Punjab’s unauthorized colonies.
