However, this year has introduced a sense of uncertainty among people regarding the exact date for celebrating Raksha Bandhan. This confusion rises from the dual full moon occurrences and the overshadowing influence of Bhadra. A significant number of astrologers across the country hold the viewpoint that the most auspicious time to observe the Rakhi festival would be during the night of August 30th and the morning of August 31st.

August 30 presents a rare celestial arrangements where the planets Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn align to form the auspicious Panch Mahayog. This unique arrangement gives rise to significant yogic combinations such as Budhaditya, Vasarapati, Gajakesari, and Shash yogas. Auspicious time to tie Rakhi on Raksha Bandhan 2023

Following the Hindu calendar, on August 30, the Bhadra period is scheduled to commence at 10:05 AM and conclude at 8:58 PM. It’s traditionally considered inauspicious to perform Rakhi ceremonies during the Bhadra phase. Therefore, it is advisable to celebrate Raksha Bandhan after the Bhadra period has ended. Similarly, due to the varying perspectives of different beliefs, an alternative option for celebrating the Rakhi festival is on the subsequent day at 7:37 AM.

Raksha Bandhan Ritual Process

During the ritual of tying the Rakhi on your brother’s wrist, it’s customary to put together the necessary items on an Aarti plate. This plate typically includes the Rakhi itself, along with roli (vermillion powder), a diya (lamp), kumkum (red powder), akshat (rice grains), and sweets. Before proceeding to tie the Rakhi, it’s necesary to apply a tilak (a mark) on your brother’s forehead as a blessing. Following this, you tie the Rakhi onto his right wrist.
