Ranveer Allahbadia: Popular Indian YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, also known for his channels BeerBiceps, has fallen victim to a major cyberattack. Both of his YouTube accounts were hacked, causing alarm among his millions of subscribers. The hackers not only renamed his channels to ‘Tesla’ but also deleted all his original content.
Ranveer Allahbadia’s YouTube Channels Renamed to ‘Tesla’
Ranveer Allahbadia’s primary YouTube channels, previously home to inspiring interviews and life lessons, now appear to be overtaken by scammers. His official English channel was rebranded to ‘Tesla,’ with the handle changed to ‘@Elon.trump.tesla_live2024.’ The personal Hindi channel was renamed ‘@Tesla.event.trump_2024.’ The attackers uploaded deceptive livestreams on these channels, using the image and voice of Elon Musk, generated through AI, to promote a cryptocurrency scam.
How the Scam Worked – Cryptocurrency and Fake Elon Musk
The hackers used an AI-generated Elon Musk avatar, urging viewers to invest their cryptocurrency. This fraudulent tactic involved displaying a QR code during the livestream, directing viewers to a suspicious website called elonweb.net. The fake Elon Musk persona asked viewers to deposit Bitcoin or Ethereum, making it seem like an exclusive opportunity.
TRS Clips Remains Unaffected, But Major Channels are Down
While Ranveer’s TRS Clips channel seems to be functioning normally, showing all the original videos, his primary accounts have been severely affected. At first, viewers noticed a sudden shift in content, showing videos promoting cryptocurrency investments. Shortly after, the main account became unavailable, displaying a message saying, “This page isn’t available. Sorry about that. Try searching for something else.”
This type of sophisticated cyberattack has raised concerns among his followers, many of whom had been eagerly awaiting new content.
No Official Statement Yet from Ranveer Allahbadia
Although Ranveer Allahbadia is active on his Twitter (X) and Instagram accounts, he has not released an official statement addressing the hack. His last social media post was made roughly 17 hours ago, leaving his fanbase waiting for further updates.
Rising Trend of Cyberattacks on Influencers and Government Entities
This cyberattack on Ranveer Allahbadia’s YouTube channel comes shortly after another high-profile hacking incident involving the Supreme Court of India’s official YouTube channel. In that case, scammers also uploaded fraudulent videos promoting cryptocurrency investments. Thankfully, the Supreme Court’s YouTube channel was later restored, but this trend of cybercriminals targeting influential figures and organizations is alarming.
