Ration Card: Commencing today, January 25, 2024, is the state-wide drive to renew all 77 lakh ration cards that are presently in use under the public distribution system in Chhattisgarh. The state administration has determined that from January 25, 2024, to February 29, 2024, all presently in-use ration cards will be renewed. On January 19, all collectors received comprehensive instructions in this regard. The Food Department has developed a new mobile application that ration card holders can download to their phones and submit online.
It is now possible for beneficiaries without Android phones and without mobile connectivity to apply electronically for ration cards at the fair price shop level using both online and offline processes. 254 recipients downloaded the app and filed applications for renewal in the hour after it was uploaded.
E-KYC
In order to ensure that no qualified recipient is denied the opportunity to renew their ration card, the state government has improved and streamlined the renewal process while taking into account the amenities enjoyed by ration card holders. If any of the persons listed on the ration card have completed their E-KYC, the recipient can submit an electronic application via the mobile app. Through this approach, the missing members’ E-KYC work will be done quickly in addition to the beneficiaries’ ration cards being renewed through February 2024.
No Cost Renewal
For ration cards issued under the Antyodaya, Priority, Destitute, and Disabled categories, the entire renewal process will be free and there won’t be any fees involved in obtaining a new card. An amount of Rs 10 has been set aside for general category ration card renewals via the app.
