RBI@90: Today, the RBI, the banking regulator, turns 90. In celebration of the Reserve Bank’s 90th anniversary, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a Rs. 90 commemorative coin. Let us inform you that the nation has just seen the issuance of its first coin, worth Rs 90. This coin is unique in that it is composed entirely of pure silver. In addition, 40 grammes of silver have been utilised in it. The bank’s logo appears on one side of the Rs 90 silver coin, while the value is printed on the other.
Design and Features of the Coin
India will also be written on the left in English and on the right in Hindi. It will bear the Reserve Bank of India’s emblem on one side and the words “Reserve Bank of India” in both Hindi and English on the other. RBI @ 90 will appear beneath the emblem.
This 90-rupee coin, which weighs 40 grammes and is composed of 99.9% pure silver, was produced at the Government of India mint. It is important to note that prior to this, commemorative coins were released to mark the Reserve Bank’s Golden Jubilee in 1985 and its Platinum Jubilee in 2010.
Market Value and Enthusiasm
This Rs 90 coin will be sold for more than its face value after it is introduced. Reports indicate that this coin will probably cost between Rs. 5200 and Rs. 5500. Coin collectors nationwide, including bank personnel, are quite enthusiastic about this coin. The Government of India’s Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, published a gazette notice for the coin’s issuance on March 19, 2024.
