RJD supremo Lalu Yadav off to Singapore for kidney transplant

Lalu Prasad Yadav, the supremo of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has left for Singapore for his kidney transplant. Rohini Acharya, his daughter who lives in Singapore, will donate kidney her father. The 74-year-old politician is joined by his other family members as well as his younger son Tejashwi Yadav.

Suffering from number of medical ailments

Yadav, who is on bail and was in jail for his involvement in fodder cases, has a number of medical ailments, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and kidney problems. He has received treatment in hospitals in Ranchi and Delhi on numerous occasions.

Rohini Acharya announced in a series of tearful tweets that she would be giving her father one of her kidneys, referring to it as “a small part of flesh.”

“It is just a small chunk of flesh that I wish to give away to my father. I can do anything for him. Please pray that things turn out well and Papa is fit again to give voice to you all”, she tweeted.

A Delhi court had previously allowed Misa Bharti’s travel to Singapore for his kidney transplant. Misa is the daughter of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and is charged with money laundering.

The court noted that the applicants’ behaviour during the court proceedings was good because they consistently showed up on the first day of any appearance summons and had been regular court attendees, with the exception of times when this judge had granted their requests for exemptions from appearance.
