Sawan Kumar Tak: Bollywood’s renowned filmmaker Sawan Kumar Tak was an Indian film director, lyricist, and producer. This director gave many blockbuster films to the industry during his lifetime. Sawan was born on August 9, 1936, and died on August 25, 2022.
In 1947, the filmmaker started his career as a producer with Sanjeev Kumar’s film Naunihal. The film also received the Presidential mention at the National Awards.

- Sajan Bina Suhagan– This film was released in 1978 and is a drama film. This film did so well at the box office that in 1980 it was remade in Tamil as ‘Mangala Nayagi’. This film was directed and produced by Sawan Kumar Tak.
- Souten Ki Beti– This film was released in 1989 and is a drama film. This film was directed and produced by Sawan Kumar Tak.
- Sanam Bewafa– This film was released in 1989 and is a drama film. This film was a remake of the Pakistani film ‘Haque Meher’. This film was directed and produced by Sawan Kumar Tak.
- Bewaffa se Waffa– This film was released in 1992 and was directed and produced by Sawan Kumar Tak.
- Souten– his film was released in 1983 and is a drama film. it was directed by Sawan Kumar Tak.
Sawan Kumar Tak death
He passed away at the age of 86. Tak’s nephew Navin informed that Sawan Ji suffered a heart attack at around 4:15 pm. He died of multiple organ failure. The funeral will be held tomorrow at Pawan Hans Crematorium.” On August 24, the filmmaker was admitted to Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital.

His nephew informed that Sawan has ‘few health ailments’ and his lungs were not strong. Padmini Kolhapuri worked with Sawan in two of his films shares some memories saying that “I got such a pivotal role in Saajan… I clearly remember his direction during that period. Then we got along really well. I used to call him Saawan uncle because I was a kid back then.
When I did Soutan, my next film with him, I was doing films as a leading lady. He said ‘khabardaar mujhe uncle bola toh!’ His songs, everything had the word Saawan in it. Then I started calling him Saawan ji.
