Here are the Top 5 Car selling brands in India

Name of BrandsNumber of vehicles sold in August 2023
Maruti Suzuki1,56,114
Hyundai53,830
Tata45,515
Mahindra37,270
Toyota 20,970

Maruti Suzuki

Maruti Suzuki kept up its dominance with 2.6 percent MoM growth and 16.4 percent year-over-year (YoY) increase from August 2022. More cars are still being sold by Maruti each month than are sold by Hyundai, Tata, and Mahindra put together.

Hyundai Motor India

Hyundai demonstrated consistent growth with a 6.2 percent MoM gain and a commendable 8.7 percent YoY growth. Along with the new “Adventure Editions” of the Creta and Alcazar, Hyundai also released the “Knight” edition of the Venue around this time. It’s possible that the Exter’s popularity helped Hyundai maintain its ranking as the second-best-selling automaker in the nation by contributing to this MoM rise as well.

Top 5 Car selling brands: Tata Motors

Sales for Tata in August 2023 decreased somewhat MoM by -4.4 percent and YoY by -3.5 percent. This might be brought on by a decline in interest in the departing Tata Nexon, which will shortly be introduced in its facelifted form in mid-September.

Mahindra

Mahindra’s performance was consistent, with growth rates of 26.5 percent annually and 2.9 percent month over month. More than 37,000 vehicles were sold by the automaker in August, an increase of 7,798 units over the same month last year.

Toyota Bharat

Toyota reported a moderate MoM gain of 1% but stood out with a significant YoY growth of 40.2 % compared to the previous year. Additionally, Toyota unveiled the Rumion MPV, a rebadged Maruti Ertiga, last month. The brand has overtaken Kia for the second month in a row thanks to the recent crop of mass-market products shared with Maruti.
