Dollar seesaws ahead of busy central bank week

On Monday, the dollar hovered near an eight-month low ahead of a slew of central bank meetings this week, while higher Spanish inflation data bolstered the euro ahead of eurozone readings on Wednesday.

The US dollar index, which measures the currency against a basket of peers including the euro, was unchanged at 101.88 after reaching an eight-month low of 101.50 last week.

Oil falls as rate hikes loom, Russian flows stay strong

Oil dipped on Monday, reversing previous gains, as impending interest rate hikes by major central banks and signs of solid Russian exports outweighed escalating Middle East tensions over an Iranian drone attack and prospects for increased Chinese demand.

Investors expect the Federal Reserve to raise rates by 25 basis points on Wednesday, followed by half-point increases from the Bank of England and the European Central Bank the following day, and any divergence from that script would be a surprise.
