UK: In November last year an Indian psychiatrist who was arrested in UK for sharing images of child sexual abuse on dark web has been sentenced to 6 years of incarceration. The investigating agency for the case has found thousands of obscene images of child sexual abuse in his memory card and laptop. The accused Kabir Garg had pleaded guilty in a London court for engaging in abuse of children by sharing indecent images of children on dark web.
‘The Annex’ website
As per the United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency Garg was one of the operators of website called ‘The Annex’. The online portal had around 90,000 members witch access to hundreds of child abuse material shared everyday. Before his arrest he worked as a psychiatrist for the National Health Service Trust. Investigators also found articles and journals pertaining to psychological impact of sexual abuse on children. As per a report by BBC, the NHS Trust where Garg was employed workers said that his conviction brought a sense of justice and closure to all those impacted by his deplorable actions.
Last week, a former deputy head teacher of a London primary school Matthew Smith pleaded guilty to paying and instructing adolescents in India to sexually abuse children and send pictures to him. Smith was online at the time of his arrest.
