UP News: UP to Build Longest Expressway Connecting Gorakhpur to Panipat, Spanning 750 km

Currently, the Ganga Expressway, running from Meerut to Prayagraj, holds the title for the state's largest expressway at 550 km, but this new project will surpass it by 200 km.

UP News– Uttar Pradesh is set to add another milestone in its infrastructure development by constructing the state’s longest expressway, stretching 750 km from Gorakhpur to Panipat in Haryana. Currently, the Ganga Expressway, running from Meerut to Prayagraj, holds the title for the state’s largest expressway at 550 km, but this new project will surpass it by 200 km.

This massive project, initiated by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), will connect CM City Gorakhpur with Haryana’s industrial hub of Panipat. Once completed, the expressway will significantly reduce travel time, allowing commuters to cover the distance from Gorakhpur to Haridwar in just 8 hours.

Connecting 22 Districts, Including Key Border Areas

The new expressway will pass through 22 districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, and Shamli. These regions, some of which are located on the Nepal border, will benefit from enhanced connectivity, stimulating economic development and regional integration.

The expressway will provide a direct route between eastern and western Uttar Pradesh, linking the state to Delhi and Haryana. The NHAI has already begun surveying the route and preparing the groundwork for this significant project.

Enhanced Connectivity to Haridwar and West Bengal

Initially, the expressway was planned to connect Gorakhpur to Shamli, but it has since been extended to Panipat to improve connectivity across northern India. The expressway will facilitate seamless travel across UP, Delhi, and Haryana, further easing the movement of goods and passengers in the region.

NHAI Project Director Lalit Kumar Pal also confirmed that the expressway will be linked to other key routes, including the Siliguri Expressway. This will provide a direct road connection from Panipat to West Bengal, opening up even greater connectivity for long-distance travel.

State’s Largest Expressway to Boost Economic Growth

The new expressway will not only be the largest in Uttar Pradesh but will also serve as a critical infrastructure development, linking major industrial and border districts. The project’s completion is expected to enhance economic growth, streamline transportation, and boost trade between the northern and eastern regions of India.

Meanwhile, the ongoing Ganga Expressway, set to be completed before the Maha Kumbh in January, is also nearing its final stages, marking another significant achievement in UP’s rapid infrastructure expansion.
