In a rare instance, a lady in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, called off her wedding to her fiancé because she had not been handed an extravagant lehenga. She lost her cool when she learned that the lehenga that the groom’s family had bought for her only cost Rs. 10,000.
Groom’s father was ready to give another lehnga
The bride’s family, on the other hand, asserted that they got the lehenga just from Lucknow. In June, the couple got engaged. The wedding was scheduled for November 5. Arrangements were done and even cards were distributed.
The woman lost her composure the day of the wedding and declined to get married. Locals said that the groom’s father gave the girl his ATM card so she could buy the lehenga of her choice, but that did not turn out to be the case.
After much quarrel, the Kotwali police were alerted to the situation, and the decision was made to call off the wedding.
