Weather Update: As the winter is heading towards its peak the atmospheric conditions of some places are getting worse. In many areas like our capital Delhi many flights has been canceled some trains has been canceled as well due to the dense fog in many areas. Northwest India is expected to be hit by a new Western Disturbance starting on December 30. Light, isolated rainfall and snowfall is predicted over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha between December 31, 2023, and January 2, 2024, due to its influence and interaction with lower-level easterly winds. A new period of light to moderate rainfall is expected to affect south Tamil Nadu and Kerala from December 30 to January 2, 2024, due to the influence of a new easterly wave. December 30 and 31, 2023, are also likely to see isolated, heavy rainfall over southern Tamil Nadu.

Snowfall will start soon

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rainfall in the mid hills and light snowfall in the higher hills from December 30 to January 1. This means that Himachal Pradesh is expected to experience a wet spell in the mid and higher hills around New Year’s. According to the IMD, a new Western Disturbance is expected to impact northwest India starting on December 30 and cause rain or snowfall in the mid- and higher hills between December 30 and January 1.

Dense to extremely dense fog conditions are probably going to persist through the night and morning hours in a lot of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi from the 28th to the 29th, and in some areas for the next three days. Conditions of dense to extremely dense fog are probably going to persist in some areas of Uttar Pradesh from the 27th to the 29th of January, with isolated pockets of dense fog persisting for the next three days. Dense fog conditions are expected to persist in certain areas of Odisha on December 28; over north Rajasthan and northwest Madhya Pradesh on December 28 and 29, and over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on December 28 and 31, 2023, in the morning hours.
