WhatsApp Standalone app: After months of beta testing and considerable anticipation, WhatsApp’s standalone app for smartwatches using Google’s Wear OS has finally been released. Smartwatch users can now enjoy the convenience of sending and receiving messages, making calls, and using emojis on their Wear OS smartwatches.
You can use it now in your smartwatches
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced the release of the WhatsApp software for Wear OS on Wednesday. This programme will enable users to initiate new chats, respond to messages, and make VoIP calls without having to be near their linked phone.
The app works with smartwatches running Wear OS 3 and is available to customers now across the globe. Emojis, rapid answers, and text and audio messages may all be sent and received by users right from their wrist.
Good news for Apple watch users
Apple’s watchOS does not currently have a standalone WhatsApp client, in contrast to Wear OS. As a result, users of the Apple Watch have a limited experience with the smartwatch, such as no native WhatsApp messaging or calling functionality. However, provided you have enabled the proper notification settings from your iPhone, Apple does permit you to view and reply to your incoming messages via the screen of your Apple Watch. Nevertheless, the Apple Watch has long been the market leader for smartwatches as a whole.
