Women’s Day 2024: In a significant move to promote gender equality and empower female students in technical and management education, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) announced a pioneering scholarship scheme on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The initiative aims to provide financial assistance to economically disadvantaged female students pursuing BBA, BCA, and BMS programs in AICTE-approved institutions.
AICTE Introduces New Scholarship Scheme for Female Students on International Women’s Day
According to the AICTE release, the new scholarship scheme will allocate ₹7.5 crore annually to support 3000 female students, offering each recipient ₹25,000 per year. The financial aid will be disbursed for three years, underlining AICTE’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and accessibility in higher education.

Professor T.G. Sitharam, Chairman of AICTE, emphasized the council’s dedication to empowering women in technical and management fields. He highlighted the establishment of the PRAGATI scheme for female engineering students and extended the initiative to encompass undergraduate management courses newly integrated into the AICTE framework.
Sitharam underscored the importance of encouraging and supporting women in engineering and management, not only as a moral imperative but also as a strategic imperative for India’s future progress and prosperity. The announcement reflects AICTE’s vision of nurturing talent and fostering an environment conducive to gender equality in educational and professional spheres.
On this International Women’s Day, AICTE reiterates its commitment to advancing women’s participation and leadership in engineering, technology, and management, envisioning a thriving and inclusive India by 2047.
