Suryakumar Yadav: Hardik Pandya’s led Team India won the third T20I against West Indies after losing the previous two, with Suryakumar Yadav emerging as the hero for the Indian team. In the post-game news conference, when Surya addressed the media after his 44-ball 83 in the game on Tuesday, there were also inquiries concerning his ODI performance. The powerful batter’s performance in the 50-over format has been far from remarkable, and he has no remorse in admitting that.

What did Suryakumar Yadav say?
At the Providence Stadium on Tuesday, the Men in Blue won the third ODI by seven wickets because to Surykumar’s outstanding batting display and Tilak Varma’s unrestrained 49*. In the press conference, Suryakumar admitted, “To be very honest, my one-day numbers are absolutely bad and there’s no shame in admitting that.”
Continuing further, he said, “We all talk about honesty and you have to be, but how you can improve is more important. Rohit (Sharma) and Rahul (Dravid) sir have told me that this is the format that I do not play much so you have to play it more and think about it. If you are batting in the last 10-15 overs, think about what you can do for the team. It is in my hand now how to change the responsibility into an opportunity.”
In T20Is, Suryakumar has achieved great success thanks to his high-risk, 360-degree batting. He has 1,780 runs scored at an average of 45.64 with a strike rate of 174.33 in 51 Twenty20 Internationals in 49 innings. In the format, he has scored three century and 14 fifty-pluses. He is the top batter in the world in this format and was named the “ICC T20I Player of the Year” in 2022 for his efforts.
Suryakumar Yadav in ODIs
Suryakumar, however, has not reached that greatness in ODIs. Just 511 runs, at an average of 24.33, and two half-centuries were all he could muster in 26 ODIs and 24 innings. Suryakumar, interestingly, had a strong ODI cricket debut. Two half-centuries and 261 runs, at an average of 65.25 runs per inning, were scored in his first six innings. He last scored 50 against the West Indies in February 2022.
