Abu Dhabi Grand Prix : Lando Norris delivered a commanding performance to win the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, leading McLaren to their first constructors’ championship in 25 years. The 25-year-old driver’s fourth win of the season solidified McLaren's position, fending off a strong challenge from Ferrari.
Teammate Oscar Piastri finished 10th after a turbulent race at the Yas Marina Circuit, while Ferrari's Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc secured second and third places. Despite Ferrari's late-season surge, Norris’ victory ensured McLaren's championship win with a 14-point lead.
Milestone for McLaren
The championship marked McLaren’s return to glory, their first since Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard brought the title home in 1998. Norris’ lights-to-flag victory also secured him second place in the drivers' championship, his career-best finish.
Dramatic Start at Yas Marina
The race began with drama as Max Verstappen, starting fourth, made a daring move that collided with Piastri, pushing the Australian to the back of the grid. Verstappen received a 10-second penalty for the incident. Piastri’s troubles compounded when he hit the back of Franco Colapinto’s car, earning another penalty and forcing an early pit stop.
Team Triumph Despite Challenges
Despite Piastri’s struggles, Norris’ consistent performance throughout the race kept McLaren in contention. His victory highlighted the team's resurgence, following a strategic season and strong qualifying results in Abu Dhabi.
McLaren's achievement signals a promising future for the team, reclaiming their place among Formula 1’s elite.
