Aditi Gopichand: History has been made. Teenage sensation Aditi Gopichand has rewritten history and has embarked on a brilliant journey. She has itched her name on Indian sporting history forever.

Aditi became the youngest World Archery Champion since 2006. The era from which the World Cup started. Not only that, it is also India’s first-ever individual title in the history of the World Archery Championship.

This might be the perfect year for the teenage sensation as she has already won the double youth champion after winning individual and team gold at World Archery Youth Championships in July.

A Nerve Wrecking Final

It was a thrilling final against Mexico Andrea Becerra. The final score was 149-147 as Aditi achieved the glory. The young archer had bronze and silver in 2019 and 2021, respectively, and finally bagged the win this time.

She hit the bull’s eye consistently in the finals and ended the match with four consecutive 30s. It just shows how dominant she was in the final. She was calm and composed throughout the match and did not let the pressure overwhelm her.

Double Champion

This victory also made Aditi the double world champion, as she won the women’s team gold on Friday, August 4. She also became one of the few players in the world to get the tag of double champion at both youth and senior levels.

In the post-match interview, Aditi said she was ready for the Asian Games in China. She wants to win big for the country. Speaking about the final, she wanted to hear the Indian national anthem after the final and just focused on her rhythm. She further stated that it is great that she is a World Champion at just 17 years old and thanked all her supporters.
