Chetan Sharma: The much-anticipated Border Gavaskar series between India and Australia got underway with much grandeur. However, BCCI Chief Selector, Chetan Sharma, caused a stir when he made a statement in a sting operation aired on TV. His remarks, which accused Indian players of taking injections, led to continuous trolling, prompting him to resign from his post as chairman of the selection committee on February 17th. Subsequently, BCCI began looking for a new president.
Serious allegations and trolling lead to Chetan Sharma’s resignation
Sharma’s accusations did not spare former captain Virat Kohli, whom he accused of lying. The BCCI is now keen to fill the position of chairman of the selection committee as soon as possible, with a focus on the remaining two matches of the Border Gavaskar series. The team was announced only for the first two Tests in January, and the team for the subsequent matches is yet to be selected. The BCCI is reportedly considering Shiv Sundar Das, a former India opener with a lot of Test experience, for the role.

Das is presently a member of the five-member selection panel and was also included in the committee that was sacked following the T20 World Cup. He is the frontrunner for the position of chairman of the selection committee, according to reports. The BCCI is undoubtedly keen to fill the vacant position as soon as possible to ensure the team’s smooth functioning and maintain the current momentum in the series against Australia.
