Rohit Sharma was the part of 2007 World Cup winning team and Virat played in 6 T20 World Cups.

India won the T20 World Cup after 17 years under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma by defeating South Africa by 7 runs. In this match, Virat Kohli played the best knock and he became Man of the Match with his performance. During the post match ceremony, Virat announced his retirement from the T20 cricket. Following that, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma also announced his retirement from the T20 internationals. Fans will not see them together playing for India in the T20 international matches.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma opened for Team India in this world cup and they are the most senior players in the team. After winning the trophy for the team, the duo announced their retirement to give chances to the young players to carry the team forward with their performances. Virat said while announcing his retirement that he wants the younger generation to lead from the front. 

In the post match press conference, Rohit announced his retirement while interacting with the media. After this announcement, the social media is flooded with pictures and videos of Rohit and Virat together. They posed with Tiranga and the trophy. This picture has gone viral. 

The match was an absolute thriller 

Heinrich Klassen nearly ended the dreams of India with his performance but Hardik Pandya changed everything by taking his wicket. After that, Bumrah bowled a good over with the wicket of Marco Jansen. Hardik conceeded only 8 runs in the final over and India won the match.
