WPL 2023: Neeraj Chopra, an Olympic gold medalist and the first Indian athlete to win a medal at the Diamond League, attended the eliminator between the Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz on March 24. As the Women’s Premier League final approaches, Chopra revealed that his favourite players in the league for 2023 are Harmanpreet Kaur, the captain of the Mumbai Indians, Shafali Verma, the opener for the Delhi Capitals, and Smriti Mandhana, the captain of the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Chopra also shared his experience of meeting the women’s cricket team, including meeting them in January before their U19 T20 Women’s World Cup final against England. Neeraj Chopra, who many consider one of the greatest Indian athletes of the present era has recently developed a strong interest in cricket. Chopra was seen motivating the Indian U-19 cricket team in South Africa for the World Cup.
In a video shared by the Women’s Premier League on their official Twitter handle, the Javelin thrower expressed his excitement about meeting the Indian Women’s Cricket Team for the first time and feeling proud to watch them win the World Cup in South Africa. When he was asked to name his three favourite players, he chose Mumbai’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, Delhi Capitals’ Shafali Verma, and Smriti Mandhana, the skipper of Bangalore’s team.
Speaking about the tournament, Chopra stated, “In the Olympics, both men and women compete but it feels so good to see women’s cricket get recognition and support from people.”

In the match between Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz, Harmanpreet Kaur’s team won by 72 runs against Alyssa Healy’s Warriorz. This win has now set up a final match between Harmanpreet’s team and Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League’s inaugural edition.
