Arshad Nadeem produced a jaw-dropping throw of 92.97 meters that not only set the top position in the competition but again smacked the Olympic record held by Denmark’s Andreas Thorkildsen of 90.57 m in Beijing 2008 Olympics. Grenada’s Anderson Peters took the bronze with a distance of 88.54 meters.

Even though Chopra couldn’t clinch gold, his throw of 89.45 meters gave him a silver, which is India’s first silver at the javelin in the Olympics.
