Had to rush to the hospital: Vinod Kambli’s wife
In the FIR, Andrea officially said, “Despite trying to pacify him, he abused me and my son for no reason. He charged at us. After hitting the cooking panhandle, he charged again with a bat. I managed to stop him before leaving with my son, and rushed to the hospital.”
Earlier, in 2022, the police had arrested Kambli in connection with drink-related offences. He and his wife were charged with abusing their maid as well. The former India player applied for a job with the Mumbai Cricket Association and told the MCA that if the position required him to give up alcohol, he would do so right away. The former Indian batter even admitted that he just rarely drinks alcohol and is not an alcoholic who consumes it on a daily basis.
Kambli had said, “There are rules and regulations which everyone has to follow. If there are any rules that don’t allow you to do certain things, everyone must follow them. I will stop it [drinking] immediately if told to do so…no problem at all!”
