In one of the rarest sights in Bengal, fans of Kolkata Football clubs East Bengal and Mohun Bagan also stood united against the crime. These two clubs are arch-rivals and have never been on good terms.
United On All Front
The rivalry between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan is well-known and it has been like that for decades. But the fans of the clubs stood united in a protest in front of Salt Lake Stadium demanding justice for the junior doctor.
Earlier today, the Durand Cup match scheduled between these two clubs was canceled because of the ongoing protests in the state. The match was canceled because of potential security issues.
The Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate said that the match had been canceled as they anticipated that some attempts could be made by some organizations to create disturbances in the stadium while the match was happening.
Kolkata Rape Case: Fans Detained
The canceled match did not stop these fans from showing their anger. They were outside the stadium with banners and slogans of ‘We Want Justice’. Several people were detained as the cops lathi-charged the protestors.
