Border-Gavaskar Trophy is less than 100 days away and fans are desperately waiting for the series to start. It looks like even Aussie players want the series to start as soon as possible.
In the last week only, several Aussie players have come out and stated how important BGT is for them. They have also made it clear that they want to win the series no matter what.
After all, the Kangaroos have not won a test series against India since 2014-15. Mitchell Starc became the latest Aussies to state how important this series is for them and how they are desperate to win it.
‘Bigger Than Ashes’
The fearsome left-arm pacer came out and stated that the Aussie team wants to win BGT no matter what. He further clarified that now BGT is on par with Ashes in terms of importance and action.
He stated, “Being five matches now it’s probably right on par with an Ashes series. We always want to win every game at home and we know India is a very strong team.”
As we’re placed at the minute we’re the top two teams on the Test ladder… so a very exciting series coming up for the fans and certainly the players. Hopefully, when we’re sitting there on the 8th of January we have that trophy back on our shores,” Starc added.
Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Battle For Top
Both India and Australia are at the top of the WTC table currently. With the schedule of both teams, it looks likely that this BGT will be deciding which team will finish on top of the table.
With New Zealand breathing down the necks of Australia, this series might also become crucial for them to qualify for the finals.
