Asia Cup 2023: Indian players and their road to fitness journey have been very weird. We hear different things daily; again, another report has come out, but this time with good news.
According to Times Of India, Wicket Keeper batsman KL Rahul has passed the fitness test and is completely fit now. And to put a cherry on top, he is even available for the selection process.
This news could not have come at a good time, as India is preparing for the upcoming Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup 2023 after that. This comeback might have also solved one problem India has been struggling with for quite some time now.
Asia Cup 2023 Return
The Asia Cup will start on August 30 and will be played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. India will open up their campaign on September 2 against arch-rivals Pakistan. And there can’t be a better time for KL to return.
The LSG captain has been constantly sharing his workout and practice videos on Instagram. Rahul has also resumed batting in nets while his wicket-keeping practice is full force, which is a good sign.
According to the source, The coaches and medical staff at National Cricket Academy are happy with Rahul’s recovery, and he will be available for selection in Asia Cup. Whether the selectors will select him directly for a major tournament before any match practice is yet to be seen.
Major Problem Solved
The return of KL Rahul solves two problems for India. The first one is finding a number 4 batsman. KL has been reliable in that position for quite a while now and can again fit into that position like a glove.
And second is being the wicketkeeper-batsman in the white ball format. With KL in the team, BCCI and the selection committee do not have to worry about selecting an extra player just for wicketkeeping.
