Asia Cup 2023: A huge boost for the Indian team as both Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah are close to getting 100 percent fit. According to Indian Express both of them are regaining their fitness completely at the NCA.
Jasprit Bumrah was injured last year and underway back surgery in March this year in New Zealand. The surgery was successful and since then the medium pacer has been rehabilitated in NCA under VVS Laxman.
Shreyas Iyer also suffered a lower back injury and had missed a considerable amount of cricket in recent times. The right-handed batsman was quoted that he does not know when he will be able to return.
But now various reports have come out that are stating that both these players will be fit before Asia Cup 2023. The BCCI are targeting them to return before the Asia Cup and it looks possible.
Return Before Asia Cup 2023
According to the reports, Bumrah is bowling around 8-10 overs daily without any discomfort in his back. These are positive signs and are giving the selectors hope about his return.
On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer is also making a fast recovery and is also looking to return to full fitness before the tournament. Things are looking positive and VVS Laxman himself is taking extra care of these two.
India is set to face Ireland right before Asia Cup. And the selectors are hopeful that both Iyer and Bumrah will be back for those three T20 match series. If it happens it will be wonderful for the squad.
No Update On KL Rahul
On the other hand, even though opening batsman KL Rahul is recovering fast, there is still no date for his return. The right-handed batsman recently shared a picture of himself recovering and rehabbing.
But there have been no reports regarding his return. Everyone is hopeful that he will make his return before World Cup 2023.
