Asia Cup 2023: A big relief for the Indian cricket team came yesterday as Jasprit Bumrah started bowling once again in the nets. Bumrah has been out of action for almost a year now and is set to return for the Ireland series.
Another brilliant news that came yesterday was that KL Rahul could make his return by Asia Cup 2023. It was speculated that Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul would be out until the world cup. But according to the latest reports, KL Rahul can be back in blue color.
Bumrah Bowling In the Nets
Jaspirt Bumrah, who went under surgery back in March, is bowling in nets in the NCA camp. It has also been reported that his recovery is going smoothly so far. And if everything goes right, he will be back in the squad as planned.
Bumrah is targeting the late August series Ireland as his comeback. His addition will be a huge boost to the Indian squad, as India missed him dearly against Australia in WTC 2023 Final. Bumrah has not played a single match since September, so the series against Ireland will be a perfect warm-up before Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup 2023.
KL Rahul Back For Asia Cup 2023?
KL underwent knee surgery in May after he got injured playing IPL 2023. He is also getting his fitness back in the NCA camp and is undergoing rehabilitation. It is expected that he will go to skill-based training in July.
So, if everything goes according to plan, KL Rahul can also return to the series against Ireland. The right-handed batsman is the first-choice wicketkeeper for India for World Cup 2023, and his absence will hurt India a lot.
Other than these two, Shreyas Iyer’s return is also being considered for the World Cup 2023. Shreyas Iyer went through back surgery earlier this year. He is ruled out for the Asia Cup 2023, as selectors want him back for the World Cup. Sanju Samson and Surya Kumar Yadav might replace him in Asia Cup 2023.
