Asia Cup 2023: India has a jam-packed schedule till the end of the year. And BCCI and the selection committee are trying new things before the major tournaments like Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup 2023.
And for that, the series against West Indies and Ireland is the perfect stage. India is already facing the Carribeans in the test series and we have already seen a few debuts of young players.
Yashaswi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan, and Mukesh Kumar got their debut cap during the series. On the other hand, another report has come out stating that Surya Kumar Yadav might be leading India against Ireland.
The New Captain
Lots of first-team and senior players will be rested against the Ireland T20i series. Rahul Dravid and his staff will also be rested. And it was deemed by everyone that Hardik Pandya will be leading the Blues in that series.
But according to a report by PTI, Even Hardik Pandya will be rested against Ireland so that he can be completely fit during Asia Cup. And TOI has reported that Suryakumar Yadav will lead the team in his absence.
Other players like Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Rohit Sharma, and Siraj will also be rested. While Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer alongside KL Rahul(if fit), will get a chance in this series to get back in the groove.
Huge Chance Before Asia Cup 2023
This is a huge chance for Suryakumar Yadav. He did not finish his last international session on a positive note. He got back in form in the IPL and carried that form to a certain extent to Duleep Trophy as well.
A BCCI source has stated that nothing is finalized yet. It will all depend on how Hardik is feeling after West Indies series.
