Asia Cup 2023: Sri Lanka might be in very big trouble as their talisman cricketer Wanindu Hasaranga might be ruled out of Asia Cup 2023. Hasaranga is undoubtedly the best Sri Lankan cricketer in the past few years.
The 26-year-old all-rounder just came out of a miraculous performance in the Lanka Premier League. He bagged all the awards in the competitions and was phenomenal throughout the tournament.
He suffered a hamstring injury right before the finals of the Lanka Premier League. The experts predicted that the player would be back by Asia Cup, but the latest reports have stated that he will miss the Continental Cup.
Huge Blow For Sri Lanka
Wandindu Hasarana is undoubtedly the best Sri Lankan player in the white ball format right now. He recently took a retirement from test cricket to focus more on franchise and white ball cricket.
After his impaired performance in LPL, it looked like Sri Lanka would be a tough competitor with Hasaranga in the team. The all-rounder took 19 wickets and scored 279 runs in the latest season of LPL.
Fitness Test Before Asia Cup 2023
The news of Hasaranga sitting out of Asia Cup 2023 is not completely confirmed yet. But the all-rounder will take a fitness test before the tournament starts and only after that his availability will be revealed.
Asia Cup 2023 will start on August 30 and Sri Lanka will play their first match on August 31st against Bangladesh. The 26-year-old was monumental when Sri Lanka won this tournament in 2022.
India has won the title most times with 7 and Sri Lanka is right behind them with 6. Pakistan has won it only 2 times while Bangladesh is still yet to win it.
