Asia Cup 2023: A hilarious moment took over Asia Cup 2023 when Mehidy Hasan and Najmul Shanto were unaware to make a solid call. The brain fade moment cost Miraj his wicket and became the highlight of the match.
The incident happened during the second match of the ongoing continental tournament. The moment came at a time when Bangladesh was in dire need of a partnership as the wickets were constantly falling down from one end.
While Shanto was batting promisingly and was looking to make a big score, no one was able to stand beside him. Just when it looked like that Miraj would make a partnership with him, this bizarre runout resulted in the loss of all hopes.
Brain fade Moment In Asia Cup 2023
The incident happened in the 37th over when Mehidy was on strike. As Hasan placed the ball swiftly, Shanto started to run without even listening to the call. Dhananjaya de Silva threw the ball quickly towards non-strike end and Rajitha claimed the run out.
The confusion happened on who should be given run out. Because as Rajitha removed the bail both batsmen were inside the batting side crease. The decision went to the third umpire and he declared Mehidy out rather than Shanto.
It happened because according to Law 30.2.1, Shanto crossed the crease before Mehidy and that is why he entered the batter’s ground before him. That is why Shanto was saved and he went on to play a fighting inning of 89 runs.
Tournament Of Run-Out
We are only in the second match of Asia Cup 2023 but we have already seen two bizarre run-outs. In the first match, Mohammad Rizwan of Pakistan was run out by Nepal in a hilarious fashion.
It happened as Rizwan was too casual and decided to dodge the throw in a weird fashion. As he was in the air the ball hit the stumps and Rizwan had to go to the pavilion.
