Pakistan beat Afghanistan by one wicket in their final Super 4 match of the Asia Cup on Wednesday. The result meant that India and Afghanistan are out of reckoning for the final to be played on Sunday as they are winless from two matches. With four points each, Pakistan and Sri Lanka qualified for the title clash.
Chasing a target of 130 runs, Pakistan reached 131 for nine in 19.2 overs with Naseem Shah (14*) hitting the back-to-back sixes to win the match. Shadab Khan top-scored with a knock of 36 runs off 26 balls.
With this win of Pakistan, India are now officially out of the the tournament.
After winning their group matches against Pakistan and Hong Kong, India crashed into a 5-wicket defeat against the Babar Azam-led side in their first Super 4 match. It was followed by another final over defeat, this time by Sri Lanka. Despite these two defeats, India were still in a three-team fight to reach the final of the Asia Cup but now, they have to accept a failed tournament.
