Asian Games 2023: On the eighth day of the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, India secured the top position in the men’s trap team shooting competition, earning a gold medal. The overall medal tally for India in Asian Games 2023 has now reached 2023.
Athletes continue to shine in Asian Games 2023
The Indian team, comprising Kynan Darius Chenai, Zoravar Singh Sandhu, and Prithviraj Tondaiman, contributed to India’s total score of 361 points, securing their place in the team event. During the individual qualification rounds, Kynan finished first, while Zoravar secured the fourth position, earning them spots in the finals. In the final, Zoravar finished fifth, while Kynan clinched the bronze medal.
In the women’s trap team event, India also secured a silver medal with the team consisting of Manisha Keer, Preeti Rajak, and Rajeshwari Kumari. However, only Manisha Keer qualified for the individual women’s trap event final, where she finished in sixth place. India concluded their shooting campaign at the Asian Games with their most successful performance to date, amassing a total of 22 medals, which included 7 gold, 9 silver, and 6 bronze medals.
Other sports today
In golf, Aditi Ashok secured a silver medal in the women’s individual event, but India finished in fourth place in the team competition. Ashok, who had been leading overnight, faced difficulties on the final day, allowing Thailand’s Yubol Arpichaya to maintain her composure and claim the gold medal, overtaking India in the process.
In track and field, Jyothi Yarraji, a strong contender for the title, failed to qualify for the women’s 200m final after finishing third in her heat. Meanwhile, Swapna Barman, the defending champion in women’s heptathlon, currently holds the fourth position, with the decisive 800m round yet to be contested. Nandini Agasara is in fifth place in the same event.
In athletics, Amlan Borgohain successfully qualified for the men’s 200m final. Additionally, in boxing, Parveen maintained her impressive form by defeating Uzbekistan’s Sitora in the women’s 57kg boxing quarterfinals, securing her spot in the semifinals and guaranteeing a medal for India.

In addition to these events, attention is also on the women’s hockey team, currently engaged in their third match of the continental showdown against South Korea. Furthermore, the spotlight shines on the star boxer Nikhat Zareen, who will be stepping into the ring against Raksat Chuthamat in the women’s 50kg semifinal. While Nikhat has already secured a bronze medal, her aim is to elevate its color to either gold or silver.
On the track and field front, we will witness Murali Sreeshankar and Jeswin Aldrin competing in the men’s long jump final. Avinash Sable, known for breaking the Kenyan dominance in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games last year, is set to participate in the men’s steeplechase final.
