Asian Games 2023: It has been a dream start for the Indian hockey team this year Asiad. The Men In Blues have scored 16 goals in their first two matches and have only conceded one goal so far.
The next two fixtures against Pakistan and Japan are going to be difficult but at this moment we should let them enjoy their victory. India has dominated the Pool A games so far with 32 goals scored and only 1 conceded in their two matches.
The side led by Harmanpreet Kaur thrashed Singapore by a 16-1 scoreline. The skipper was in a relentless mood as he scored 4 goals while Mandeep Singh also got his well-deserved hat trick.
Dominant Start To Asian Games 2023
The Indian team was coming into this fixture after defeating Uzbekistan by 16-0 in the first match. Considering that and the final scoreline, the first quarter was quite underwhelming by the Blues.
A huge momentum shift happened in the second quarter. While India was only able to score 1 goal in the first quarter, they put 6 past Singapore’s goalkeeper by half-time. Five more goals were scored in the third quarter and five in the final quarter.
A total of 9 different players came forward and scored for the Indian team. Harmanpreet Kaur and Mandeep Singh scored a hattrick while seven other players also contributed to the scoresheet.
Bigger Challenges Ahead
India has had a breezing start to the Asian Games 2023 so far. But there are big challenges ahead of them. India is set to face defending champions Japan on September 28 in their pool A match.
This match will be followed by a clash against Pakistan on September 30. The final match of their campaign will be against Bangladesh on October 2.
