Asian Games 2023: At the ongoing Asian Games held on Friday, the men’s 50m Rifle 3Ps team from India, comprising Aishwary Tomar, Swapnil Kusale, and Akhil Sheoran, secured the gold medal in the team event, setting a new world record in the process. This achievement marks India’s 15th medal in shooting at the Asian Games 2023, with 7 of them being gold medals.
India creates new historic record
India achieved an impressive score of 1769, surpassing the previous record set by the USA in Peru last year by eight points. China secured the silver medal, tallying a score of 1763, while the Republic of Korea earned the bronze with a score of 1748. This marks India’s historic rally of medals this year at the Asian Games 2023.
Swapnil and Aishwary both achieved identical scores of 591 in the qualification event, clinching the top two spots and securing their spots in the upcoming final scheduled for later in the day. Remarkably, their outstanding performances set new records for the qualification stage in both the Asian Games and Asian shooting records.
PM Modi Reacts to the win
Regrettably, even though Akhil secured an impressive fifth-place finish in the individual rankings, he couldn’t qualify for the final because of the limitation permitting only two shooters from each country to participate in the event.
