Simultaneously, the Indian women’s hockey team, with Vandana Katariya, vice-captain Deep Grace Ekka, and Deepika all achieving hat-tricks, dominated Hong Kong with a resounding 13-0 win in their final pool match. India thrashes Nepal in Cricket
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s remarkable century, a record-breaking T20I ton for the youngest Indian, laid a strong foundation with his 100 runs off 49 balls. Rinku Singh also contributed significantly with a quickfire 37* off 15 balls, guiding India to a total of 202/4. In the bowling department, Ravi Bishnoi and Avesh Khan both claimed three wickets each, while R Sai Kishore marked his T20I debut with a wicket.
Dominating victory against Bangladesh in Kabaddi
In their opening match at the Asian Games, the Indian men’s kabaddi team launched their campaign with a resounding victory, displaying dominance as they defeated Bangladesh convincingly with a scoreline of 55-18, preventing their opponents from making any significant comeback throughout the game.
Gold assured in Archery
Indian archers Ojas Deotale and Abhishek Verma displayed outstanding performances by securing a gold and silver medal, respectively, in the men’s individual compound archery at the Asian Games 2023. Abhishek Verma emerged victorious with a score of 147-145 against the top-seeded Jaehoon Joo, while Ojas Deotale achieved a remarkable feat with consecutive scores of 150, defeating Jaewon Yang by four points. The much-anticipated clash between Ojas Deotale and Abhishek Verma for the men’s individual compound archery gold medal is scheduled to commence at 7:10 AM IST on Saturday, October 7th.
Sublime 13-0 victory in Hockey
In their last Pool A match at the Asian Games 2023, the Indian women’s hockey team delivered a dominating performance, securing a resounding 13-0 victory over Hong Kong China. Deep Grace Ekka, Deepika, and Vandana Katariya all achieved hat tricks, while Sangita Kumari netted twice, and Monika and Navneet Kaur also found the back of the net. This victory ensured that India finished as the top team in Pool A, earning them a spot in the women’s hockey semi-finals. They are scheduled to face the runners-up from Pool B on Thursday, October 5th. Remarkably, the Indian team scored a total of 33 goals and conceded only once in their four group matches.
PV Sindhu marches ahead
Indian badminton star PV Sindhu, currently ranked 15th in the world, displayed her prowess by defeating Wen Chi Hsu, ranked 21st globally, with a score of 21-10, 21-15 in the women’s singles round of 32 at the Asian Games 2023. Sindhu is set to compete in the women’s singles round of 16 in the upcoming match.
Bronze in Canoe Double
In the men’s canoe double 1000m final at the Asian Games 2023, India’s Arjun Singh and Sunil Singh Salam secured the bronze medal with a time of 3:53.329, claiming third place.
India reach squash’ quarterfinals
In squash, the Indian mixed doubles pair of Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu emerged victorious with an 11-5, 11-5 win over Japan’s Risa Sugimoto and Tomotaka Endo in a Pool A encounter. Having won all three group matches, Dipika and Harinder finished atop Pool A and are now set to compete in the quarter-finals, which are scheduled to begin at 2:30 PM IST today.
