Asian Games 2023: The Indian women’s team continued their dominance and also took their revenge against Bangladesh in the semi-final round of this year’s Asiad. India qualified for the semi-final round after thrashing Malaysia in a rain-hit match.
While the match against Malaysia showed the batting prominence of the team, this match was all about bowling. India scored 174 runs in just 15 overs against Malaysia before rain hit and stopped the play.
After a controversial series against Bangladesh which resulted in Harmanpreet Kaur getting banned for two matches, this semi-final clash was tense. But the bowling department made sure nothing like that would happen again.
Sensational Bowling
While bowling first, the Indian team stopped Bangladesh on just 51 runs in 17.5 overs. Only skipper Nigar Sultana was able to touch the double-figure score as she scored 12 runs in her innings. Which is just shameful.
Pooja Vastrakar was the best bowler as she took 4 wickets in her 4 overs. Titas Sadhu, Amanjot Kaur, Gaykwad, and Devika Vaidya took 1 wicket each. Pooja was the most expensive bowler as she had an economy rate of 4.
In reply, India chased the target in just 8 overs with 8 wickets in hand. Smriti Mandhana once again got out early but Shafali Verma and Jemimah Rodrigues made sure India reached the target comfortably.
Pakistan In Asian Games 2023 Finals?
Indian team now can face either Pakistan or Sri Lanka in the finals as that match is going on. Both of these teams can present a challenge on their day but the Indian team will be focused on winning the gold at all costs.
