Asian Games 2023: We have finally gotten our first gold of this year Asiad. India sent their largest contingent even in the Asian Games this year. There are many hopefuls who can win medals for India.
The Indian contingent had a great start to the competition as they have already won 10 medals including 6 bronze, and 3 silvers, and now you can add one gold medal to that tally as well. Indian women’s cricket team is also in the finals and can win the second gold for India.
The shooting contingent has been so impressive and has won 5 medals including 3 bronzes, 1 silver, and 1 gold medal now. The 10m Air Rifle team of Rudraks Patil, Aishwary Pratap Singh, and Divyansh Singh won the first gold medal for India on Monday morning.
Stunning Victory
It was a stunning victory and the Indian team shocked everyone when they fielded a combined world record. Their total score was 1893.7 points and they broke the previous record of 1893.3 set by China.
The Indian shooting contingent won 9 medals in shooting back in 2018. This time they have sent a 33-member contingent who will try and compete for 51 medals. They have already grabbed 5 of them.
On the other hand, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar also grabbed the bronze medal in the Men’s 10m air rifle individual event. It was a thrilling contest as Aishwary was tied on points with his fellow teammate Rudrankksh after 20 shots.
He edged out on the last few shots and finished his points tally with 228.8 to secure the third-place finish.
Asian Games 2023: Sensational Start
This has been a wonderful campaign for India so far. Indian women’s team also eyeing gold against Sri Lanka. If Harmanpreet Kaur’s side wins the final, India will jump into the top 5 position of the medal tally.
