Asian Games 2023: The edition has been so far going very well for India. India now has 78 medals, the highest ever. Neeraj Chopra won the Gold (88.88 m), his second consecutive Asian Games gold, cementing his legacy as a historic figure in Indian sports. It is also the first time ever that India has won a gold & silver medal in the same category as Kishore Kumar Jena notched the second position (87.54m) in Javelin throw final.
India secured bronze in the 35km mixed team race walk, while Lovlina Borgohain clinched a silver medal in the women’s 75 kg boxing final, despite losing 0-5. Parveen earned a bronze after a defeat in the 57kg women’s boxing semifinal. Sunil Kumar won a bronze in men’s Greco-Roman 87kg wrestling by defeating Kyrgyzstan’s Atabek Azisbekov 2-1. In other events, Harmilan Bains secured her second silver medal in the women’s 800m finals with a time of 2:03.75, adding to her earlier silver in the women’s 1500m.

India in other sports
Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu’s mixed doubles squash victory over Hong Kong’s Ka Yi Lee and Chi Him Wong ensured at least a silver medal for India. However, an all-Indian mixed doubles final was averted as Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh lost to Malaysia’s Aifa Binti and Mohammad Syafiq, settling for bronze. Saurav Ghosal dominated in the men’s singles squash semifinals, defeating Hong Kong’s Leung C.H.H in straight games.
Avinash Sable, the gold medalist in the men’s 3000m steeplechase, has again won a silver medal in men’s 5000m event. Another Indian athlete, Gulveer Singh, will also compete in the same race. Gulveer has already secured a medal in the Asian Games with a third-place finish in the men’s 10,000m final.

- India’s Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Pravin Ojas Deotale clinched the gold medal in compound archery mixed team event.

- In badminton, PV Sindhu advanced to the women’s singles quarterfinals after defeating Indonesia’s Putri Kusuma Wardani.
- HS Prannoy entered the men’s singles quarterfinal by defeating Kazakhstan’s Dmitriy Panarin.
- India’s women’s volleyball team defeated Nepal 3-1 in Pool G.
- In men’s hockey, India won 5-3 in the semifinal against South Korea.
