Asian Games 2023: In the 10-meter air pistol mixed team event at the Asian Games 2023, India’s Sarabjot Singh and Divya Thadigol secured their eighth silver medal, narrowly losing the gold medal match to China’s Zhang Bowen and Jiang Ranxin by a score of 14-16 on Saturday.
India secures another silver medal
India‘s mixed pair made a strong start in the gold contest against their Chinese counterparts, securing a 4-0 lead after the second series. The third series ended in a tie with a score of 19.8 for both teams. However, after the seventh series, Jiang’s exceptional performance allowed China to catch up, levelling the score at 7-7 against the Indian pair.
India regained the lead with Sarabjot’s impressive shots of 10.8 and 10.5, securing victory in the next two series. Nevertheless, the Chinese team displayed composure, winning the subsequent three rounds, resulting in a neck-and-neck competition that persisted until the 14th series. In the end, both teams shared 20.3 points in the 14th round, concluding the series with a tied score of 14 apiece.
8th Silver for India in shooting
In the ultimate series, China (21) narrowly outperformed India (20.4), securing the gold medal, while India had to settle for silver in the 10-meter air pistol mixed team event on Saturday. Sarabjot and Divya’s partnership earned India its 19th shooting medal and marked the country’s 34th overall medal at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou.
