Ngangom Dinko Singh, the bantamweight boxer who won the Asian Games gold in 1998 in Bangkok. He was a patient with liver cancer and was treated since 2017.
Dinko was COVID positive last year and after that his health condition had deterioted a lot but the 41-year-old fought hard and recovered well.
Dingko underwent radiation therapy at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), Delhi in the month of January. His status becomes worsened in April and later he also contracted jaundice.
He was bestowed the Arjuna award in 1998 and was presented the nation’s fourth-highest civilian honour the Padma Shri in 2013.
Meanwhile, Vijendra Singh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had condoled to the death of a veteran Indian boxer.
