Asian Para Games 2023: India has had a remarkable run at the ongoing 4th Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, securing a total of 35 medals, comprising 10 gold, 12 silver, and 13 bronze. The athletes continued to shine, adding 17 more medals to their tally. Notably, Neeraj Yadav, Yogesh Kathuniya, and Muthuraja swept all three medals in the Men’s Discus Throw. In Powerlifting, Ashok clinched bronze in the Men’s -65 kg event with a lift of 192 kg.
Ankur Dhama won gold in men’s 5000m-T11 event
Sharath Makanahalli Shankarappa claimed gold in the Men’s 5000m-T13 event, narrowly edging out Nabeel Khaled Ahmad of Jordan. Rubina Francis secured bronze in Women’s 10M Pistol, while Parmod Bijarnia and Rakesh Bhaira took silver and bronze, respectively, in the Men’s 1500m T46 event. Ankur Dhama won gold in the men’s 5000m-T11 event.
Dual glory in Men’s 10-meter Air Pistol SH1 event
In the Men’s Shot Put F40 event, Ravi Rongali earned a silver medal with an impressive throw of 9.92 meters. India celebrated dual glory in the Men’s 10-meter Air Pistol SH1 event, with Rudransh Khandelwal securing silver and Manish Narwal bringing home the bronze, marking Khandelwal’s second medal at the Games. Ajay Kumar secured a silver medal in the Men’s 400 meters T64 category, and Deepthi Jeevanji broke a Games record with a stellar time of 56.69 seconds in the women’s 400 meters T20 category. Ekta Bhyan added to the success with a bronze in women’s para club throw in the F-23 category.
India’s prowess in canoeing was evident as Gajendra Singh secured a bronze in the men’s VL2 event. In Para Mixed Doubles Badminton, SL3 and SU5 category, Pramod Bhagat and Manisha Ramadass stormed into the semi-finals, assuring India of more medals.
Asian Para Games 2023: Prachi Yadav won gold
In women’s Para Canoeing KL2 category, Prachi Yadav won gold, her second medal at the Games, with a remarkable time of 54.962 seconds. Similarly, in men’s Para Canoeing, Manish Kaurav secured a bronze medal in the KL3 category. India’s top para athlete, Simran, showcased her exceptional talent in the women’s 100 meters, earning a well-deserved silver medal.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his happiness for the Indian medalists in a series of social media posts. India sent a contingent of 303 athletes competing in 17 different disciplines at the Asian Para Games, aiming to surpass their best performance of 72 medals at the 2018 event in Indonesia, which included 15 gold, 24 silver, and 33 bronze medals.
