On Sunday, Athiya Shetty took to her Instagram story to commemorate her husband’s triumphant performance in India’s inaugural match of the World Cup season. In one of her stories, she posted a picture of KL Rahul and Virat Kohli during their batting innings, accompanied by a caption adorned with the Indian flag and a salute emoji. Subsequently, Athiya also shared ICC’s reel that had KL Rahul’s pivotal six that secured the victory. Along with the story, she wrote, “Best guy ever.”
KL Rahul found himself at the crease with a score of 91 runs when India required just five runs for victory. The wicketkeeper-batsman displayed remarkable composure as he struck a six through the off-side off the bowling of Australian captain Pat Cummins, securing the win for India. Throughout his innings, KL Rahul, in partnership with Virat Kohli, adeptly managed the pressure imposed by the Australian bowlers, contributing a patient 165 runs from 215 balls. Rahul’s innings featured 8 boundaries and 2 sixes, and he concluded the match unbeaten with a total of 97 runs from 115 balls.

Coming to the match, the Indian team faced the challenge of chasing a target of 200 runs set by the Australian team. Team India encountered an early setback as they lost three wickets, including their captain Rohit Sharma, who was run out without scoring any runs. However, it was the partnership between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul that turned the tide in their favor, ultimately leading to the team’s victory. In their pursuit of the target, Virat contributed 85 runs, while KL Rahul delivered an impressive performance, amassing 97 runs.
