Wrestlers Protest: Bajrang Punia and Sakshee Malikkh, two of India’s finest wrestlers, met with Sports Minister Anurag Thakur a few hours after accepting his invitation. They are organising a protest against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Singh over allegations of sexual harassment and stalking. Five key demands were made by the athletes.
Five key demands of Wrestlers
- The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) should elect a woman to the position of president.
- No member of Brij Bhushan Singh’s family will participate in the wrestling federation.
- The wrestlers who are protesting have called for “free and fair” elections to the wrestling organisation whose leadership has been charged with corruption and poor administration.
- The wrestlers have demanded the cancellation of the FIR filed against them for allegedly breaking law and order in relation to an altercation that occurred at Jantar Mantar on April 28.
- The wrestlers called for Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s arrest once more due to allegations of sexual harassment.

Wrestlers Granted Second Meeting to Address Concerns
Few days after Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with the protesting wrestlers at his home to examine their claims of sexual assault against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Singh, the government had invited them for a second meeting. On this Anurag Thakur Twitted, “The government is willing to have a discussion with the wrestlers on their issues. I have once again invited the wrestlers for the same.”
