Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: The Ashes 2023 has been concluded. The winners have been decided. Aussies have retained the Ashes for the sixth time in a row. But was this the right way to do it?
Australia dominated the first two test matches of the series and took a 2-0 lead. England came back in the third test to make the deficit 2-1 and were dominating the Aussies in the fourth test as well.
But the rain had other plans. As England skipper Ben Stokes walked out with a dry grin on his face, everyone knew the Ashes has been lost. Stokes remained on the field to sign autographs so that fans won’t go empty-handed, but the English team remained empty-handed for the sixth time in a row. Even Bazball could not bring the Ashes home.
Aus Vs Eng Ashes 2023: Water Poured On Dominance
England was completely dominant against Australia in the fourth test at Manchester. After bowling out Australia for 317 runs in the first inning, they scored a mammoth total of 592 runs by the end of the second day.
By the end of the third day, Australia was completely lost with just 108/4 in their second inning. Marnus Labushagne heroic alongside Mitch Marsh saved the fourth day with the help of the rain.
And rain once again became the 12th man for Australia as the fifth day was completely ruined by it. The match ended as a draw meaning Australia won’t lose this series no matter what. They were still 55 runs behind at the end of the match.
Ashes Retained
This also means that the Aussies have retained the Ashes once again. England have not won a test match series against Australia since 2015. The motivation of English players might be at rock bottom after this result and we might see a different England in the final match. One that is mentally exhausted.
